e-invoicing in Iceland
Iceland is part of the European Economic Area and a growing market for digital business document exchange. Whilst Peppol is the emerging pan-European network for e-invoicing, Maventa support today focuses on company registration and services within our own network. Selected partners can register and manage Icelandic companies through the API.
Iceland is currently supported only for selected partners. Please contact Maventa Support for more information on how to set this up with your ERP for Icelandic companies.
Icelandic company account registration
When registering a new Icelandic company via the API, the kennitala (Icelandic legal entity identifier) must be used as the company identifier. Company registration requires the vendor to have approval from Maventa. Contact Maventa support to get started.

Kennitalas of natural persons are rejected; only legal-entity identifiers are accepted. No VAT number is derived or required for Icelandic companies.
Customer authentication
For Maventa to send and receive invoices on behalf of an Icelandic company, the company must be authorised through the API. Maventa does not currently offer Visma Sign for Iceland.
Partners with an approved customer authentication process must authorise each company using the standard API endpoints: SOAP authorize_company / authorize_companies (with authorization_method) or REST POST /v1/company/authorization.
Available services
Once registered and authorised, Icelandic companies have access to:
- Sending and receiving: Exchange invoices within Maventa’s network
- Email invoicing: Reliable email delivery using Maventa’s standard layouts
- Print services: Traditional invoice printing and postal delivery. Invoices are printed in Finland and sent from Finland.
Limitations and roadmap
The following are not yet available for Iceland:
- Peppol network: Not yet available for Icelandic companies
- Scanning services: AutoScan and DocScan are not available
- National registry checks: Kennitala validation during registration is structural only (legal entity range and check digit); no live registry lookups are performed at this time
